The word “modernization” – has it had any effect on the condition of Indian women?  Yes, nowadays women are financially independent, they are wearing modern clothes, they are traveling alone – but is this enough?                           Everybody is aware of the pathetic condition of Indian women in villages, hence in this article, we would basically focus on urban women.   Let us view their journey from the day they are born.   It is a great relief to see that the birth of a girl child is not considered a sin in most of the urban families.   There are many men, who want to have a daughter.   The paternal grandparents also accept the birth of their first granddaughter happily and at the same time, pray to God that next time, their son should be blessed with a boy!   If next time also their son has a baby girl – outwardly they may show to the world that they are proud grandparents of two girls, but internally they would always lament and wish that their son should have had a boy as his second child and that now their family linage would end and there would be nobody to take their family name forward.                             Complexion and features of a girl child really matters in a country like India.   Girls with fair skin are always given preference.   Mothers encourage their daughters to use fairness creams from an early age.   If an Aunt or Uncle’s daughter is fairer - then the poor girl has had it.   She would be forced to use face packs, home remedies would be suggested from all the ends just to make her look fairer.   Why don’t we realize that most of our Indian girls who have become Miss Universe / Miss World have a wheatish complexion.   Look at Sushmita Sen, Dyna Hyden, Priyanka Chopra.   Do they have fair skin – No – but are they famous – Yes indeed they are.                             Education of a girl child in urban India is no doubt considered very important and most of the parents want that their daughters to complete their studies, be well employed and then only get married.   But here also discrimination is prevalent.   60% of the parents want their daughters to study in Girls College.   How come these parents don’t think of sending their sons to Boys College only?  If a girl wants to go in for some professional studies – for instance if she wants to become a doctor or an engineer or wants to do MBA, parents normally put this condition that she should get admission in the city in which they are living and that they are not willing to send their daughters to other cities for studies.   But see the irony these very parents have no issues in sending their sons not only to other cities but also abroad for studies and they even shamelessly boast in front of their relatives and friends that their sons are studying abroad!  I agree that some parents are concerned about the safety of their daughters and hence don’t want them to go alone to another city.   But there are many hypocrite parents who feel that their daughters would get spoilt if they were sent alone!  Can any one please tell me why these parents don’t feel that way for their sons?  Or is it that in this country, boys are allowed to get spoilt but girls have to be disciplined?!                           Pub culture has become quite popular in most of the Metropolitan cities of India.   Girls and boys go there, have a few drinks, dance and enjoy themselves.   But 80% of the girls who visit these pubs, do so without the knowledge of their parents.   They make excuses and go to these pubs.   Why?  The reason is that no matter how modern we may call ourselves, the fact remains that we always look down at those girls who drink and smoke in our society.   We tend to raise a finger at their upbringing.   But why don’t we do so in case of boys?  When marriages are fixed, if boy drinks/smokes occasionally, it is considered a normal thing, as he is a man.   But if a girl says that she drinks/smokes occasionally, many eyebrows are raised, why?                            Marriage is considered to be a very sacred institution in India.   There are two types of marriages in India - Arranged marriages and Love marriages.   In the case of arranged marriages, the bride is expected to be perfect.   She should know cooking, should be educated, homely, simple, loving, and the list goes on and on.   Many in-laws expect that the daughter in law should be a working woman and should know household work as well.    Once the daughter in law enters the house, she is expected to take the burden of the entire household work on her shoulders but she is not given the power to take the decisions.   If she is going to be late in office or if she has got some official party, the husband expects her to seek his permission.   But does the husband do the same?  If the wife has some delegation in office and is getting delayed at her work place, the husband raises his eyebrows, but the husband has full liberty to come late at home giving the pretext of having false delegations in office.   Why?  A girl is expected to come back home straight from work, if at times she wants to visit her friends after her office hours, she is subject to so many taunts by her husband and his family.   But why doesn’t this rule apply to a man?  Why does he have all the freedom in the world even after marriage?  So many restrictions are put on the girl for visiting her parents but in the case of a boy – he lives with his parents only and expects his wife to adjust with them, no matter how unbearable it may be for her.   If a girl, who is non-vegetarian, marries a vegetarian boy, she is expected to become vegetarian with him but why is it not vice versa?                            Love marriage is also not a bed of roses.   If the couple stays alone, then hundreds of fingers are pointed at the girl and she is held responsible for separating her husband from a family.   But why doesn’t the society realize the girl is also away from her parents so what is the big deal if the boy is staying away from his parents?  If the couple stays with the family then the poor girl is really scrutinized very severely by the parents of the boy so that somewhere they could find fault with the girl and once they succeed, they leave no stone unturned to poison the boy’s mind against his wife.   Infact this particular thing of poisoning the boy’s mind against his wife happens in arranged marriages also.   Somehow the boy’s parents can never digest the fact that their son is now married and he has to give quality time to his wife.   They want to keep him to themselves only.   A wife is expected to be devoted to her husband.   Her first priority has to be the husband, then why is it that it is not so for the boy?  A girl also is attached to her parents and lives for her parents before marriage.   But after marriage her priorities change.   Her husband takes the first place then why doesn’t a wife take the first place in her husband’s life?  Why is it that thousands of fingers are raised at the girl if her husband is all for her?                            These days most of the young couples are working.   Many women are getting equal salary as their husbands.   But why is it that the burden of household work falls entirely on the women?  They are expected to excel in office as well as manage the household work simultaneously.   Why don’t the husbands help in the household work?  After all, the wives also get up in the morning, go to work and are tired by the time they come home.   If both husband and wife share the household work, life would become much easier.   But no, men wont do that.   If 20% of the men decide to help their wives in the kitchen, several questions are raised by the husband’s family and the neighbours.   Why is it so?                           Most of the men are really concerned about the virginity of their wives.   The husband always wants that he should be the first to touch her.   If on the first night, the husband discovers that his wife is not a virgin, then a havoc is created.   Why?  Is there an unwritten rule in India that the women necessarily have to be virgins when they get married but the men can enjoy themselves before marriage also?  Why only before marriage, 70% of the men are unfaithful to their wives.   They tend to have extra-marital affairs.   The wives are expected to be totally loyal to her husband, while the men can do whatever they want!  If by chance, a wife is caught in an extra-marital affair by her husband, she is immediately turned out of the house, while if a husband is found cheating his wife, she is expected by the society to forgive him and save her marriage.   Why these double-standards?                           Another very peculiar thing which I have noticed is that if a woman takes care of her husband, loves him, she is called a devoted wife and the society expects a woman to be totally dedicated to her husband, while on the other hand, if a husband takes care of his wife and loves her, he is termed as a “Joru ka Gulam” and is mocked at by the society.   Why?  I believe that marriage is like a cart whose wheels are husband and wife and they have to put equal effort to make the cart go ahead.   But how is that a woman in India gives her 100% to her marriage while a husband does not even give 10%!

In Celebration & Praise of The Annunciation of Our Lord Jesus Christ to the Blessed Virgin Mary: “Hail, thou that art highly favored…”   A reflection,Peter Menkin, Obl Cam OSBChurch of Our Saviour (Episcopal)Mill Valley, CA USA (North of San Francisco)Wednesday Eucharist, March 25, 2009 Lesser Feasts and Fasts, 1994   Isaiah 7: 10-14 Hebrews 10: 5-10 Luke 1:26-38 Psalm 40: 1-11   In the name of God: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.   The word of David is fulfilled this day as we celebrate Mary, who says “Yes,” to the Lord. The obedient young woman, the virgin Mary, Mother of God, says “Yes,” to the Lord after the Angel Gabriel greets her: “Hail, you that are highly favored…”   Let us add our voices and hearts with others, as we consider: Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad. The fields shall be joyful, and all the trees of the wood before the Lord, because He cometh. And in what way, what special way, did God give his only Son to mankind? Born of a virgin, bringing into the history of God and man a new life with God in Christ, a new period in the history of the divine-human relationship that will be for ever and ever. For Gabriel said in greeting: “Hail, you that are highly favored…”   The pure Virgin Mary cast in her mind what manner of salutation this might be. And the Angel immediately proceeded to say, The Lord is with thee: fear not, Mary; for thou hast found favor with God. Behold, thou shall conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call him Jesus.   He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David, and He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever: and of His kingdom there shall be no end.   Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? Shall I still remain a virgin?   And while she was yet in perplexity as to these things, the angel placed before her the summary of his whole message, and said to Mary, “The Holy Ghost shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. ” Meekly, then, did grace make election of the pure Mary alone out of all generations.   Mary was obedient, and holy. She was pure. It was goodness that brought Jesus Christ into the world, and specifically the goodness of God who loves us that brought the Saviour of the world and mankind. Listen to these words in celebration of Mary by a woman poet:   Virginby Luci ShawAs if until that momentnothing realhad happened since CreationAs if outside the world were emptyso that she and he were allthere was–he mover, she moved uponAs if her submission were the mostdynamic of all works: as ifno one had ever said Yes like thatAs if one day the sun had no placein all the universe to pour its goldbut her small room   Let us imagine together this event, so awesome and holy, so large and cosmic as to create in us the need to recognize that God’s ways are not our ways. The Annunciation of Our Lord Jesus Christ to the Blessed Virgin Mary is the beginning of Jesus in His human nature. It is through His mother that He is a member of the human race. So the story tells us:  The virginity of Mary before, during, and after the conception of her Divine Son was always considered part of the deposit of faith. The Incarnation of the Son of God did not in itself necessitate this exception from the laws of nature. Through Mary a new generation begins of the children of God.   We recite words like these that make the miracle real: “…[M] aker of heaven and earth, /of all that is, seen and unseen…God from God, Light from Light, /true God from true God, /begotten not made…” The Redeemer does not arrive in the way of earthly generations: the power of the Holy Spirit enters the chaste womb of the Virgin, forming the humanity of Christ. This Holy Spirit, which enters Mary in its creation, creates an incarnate God, a man to be born of woman, in Mary’s womb. But the spirit of Christ Jesus is so large, so immense, so cosmic a spirit that He is in reality begotten into the world. In the words of the Hymn by Third Century Syrian Poet Ephrem: He dwelt in the vast wombs of all creation. They were too small to contain the greatness of the Firstborn. How indeed did that small womb of Mary suffice for Him? It is a wonder if (anything) sufficed for Him. Of all the wombs that contained Him, one womb sufficed: [the womb] of the Great One Who begot Him.   The womb that contained Him, if it contained all of Him, Is equal to the wonderful womb That is greater than [the womb] of His birth.   As we celebrate and remember Mary and the Annunciation, her obedience to God, let us thank God for this cosmic act in love of humankind. Let us be grateful for Christ Jesus and his life. Again, the poet Ephrem may with his voice, help us–we join him when he writes:   Glory to Your coming that restored humankind to life. Glory to that One Who came to us by His First-born. Glory to that Silent One Who spoke by means of His Voice. Glory to that Sublime One Who was seen by means of His Dawn. Glory to the Spiritual One Who was well-pleased…   …Glory to that Hidden One Whose Child was revealed. Glory to that Living One Whose Son became mortal… …Glory to that One Power Who fashioned Him. The Image of His greatness and Form for His hiddenness… …Glory to that Hidden One Who even to the mind Is utterly imperceptible to those who investigate Him.   Of what became of Mary in her life with Christ–we know this of the Lenten season from the Lenten story and text “The Way of the Cross. ” In the hymn “Stabat Mater,” we are reminded that she kept her station at the Cross: how sad and “sore distressed / Now as she, that mother blessed /Of the sole-begotten-One. ”   At the end, the body of Jesus is placed in the arms of His mother. She tells us to behold and see if there is any sorrow like hers…”for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. ”  Our hearts go out to Mary. We are moved by her life, and mostly by her faith and obedience.   For His tender mercies sake, let us say together:   Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal One, Have mercy upon us.   You have redeemed the world. Amen.   An audio reading of the Reflection by the aspiring poet Peter Menkin is here: http://www. archive. org/details/InCelebrationAndPraiseOfTheAnnunciationReflectionByPeterMenkin

Post-menopausal time is the time to live the more transcendental aspects of sex. Having “done” the sexual revolution of the 1960s is not enough. The real and genuine sexual revolution – the endgame of the liberation, is sacred sexuality with a genuine feminine consciousness.
Let menopause be the death of the bad, sad, and dutiful sex – but not the death of sex. In old age, being our authentic selves (in or out of relationship), our sexuality, and our spirituality is the path itself. The reawakening of spirituality and a renewed sexuality are mutually inclusive. It is Crone’s work and part of our conscious evolution
In legend, the Great Goddess had three aspects – all parts divine; like the moon in her phases, like life itself – past/present/future, birth/life/death. She is Virgin / Mother / Crone; Maiden / Wife /Witch.
Other versions described four aspects; chaste, promiscuous, motherly and bloodthirsty; modest, sensual, nurturing and ruthless; virginal, harlot, fertile and warlike; immaculate, wanton, motherly and warrior.
All renditions have the fierce component and the nurturing/fertile aspect. But sexuality is befuddled and divided; what does it mean to be chaste and promiscuous? We do not have an image for it because our worldview denies a sacred sexuality, sex is either good or bad. So chaste is split from promiscuous, modest from sensual, virgin from harlot, immaculate from wanton.
Essentially the lover aspect is separated from both mother and maiden – and severely condemned. In truth the lover aspect is the priestess of love – serving eros. She is ecstatic and transcendent in nature. The lover archetype was and should be part of our virgin life, our mother/wife life, and our crone life. (Sacred) sexuality imbues all aspects of the life cycle.
Defining the Virgin by her unbroken hymen is a patriarchal concept, a limited and literal understanding of virginity. Metaphorically and psychologically, the Virgin is the autonomous part of a woman’s psyche; the intrinsic self not owned by, needing, or requiring a man’s validation. She could be sexual - or not.
(On the matter of “losing your virginity”, there is the wonderful story in the novel Red Tent, where the older women gently pierce the hymen at first menstruation with one of those little goddess figurines. Essentially, the menstruating girl’s initial physical penetration is an initiation by the goddess – not a male violation with blood on the sheet in barbaric proof of possession. )
The patriarchy had to wrest control of the life cycle from the Goddess. Life and death were fairly straightforward; but to command procreation, the mother/wife had to be owned in marriage, and sexuality had to be strictly confined there. The mother image was even reconfigured to being ever caring and self-effacing – denying her sexual and destructive sides.
By severe distortion, then, the Virgin and Mother phases of the ancient goddess could be assimilated into Christianity. But the Crone absolutely could not; the word itself derives from the word crown, and indicates the lost power of ancient queens. The Crone was wise, mysterious, independent – and awesome. Too much like the male god aspect! According to Barbara Walker, patriarchal religions could not achieve full control of men’s minds until the crone figure was suppressed.
Compare the wisdom figure of India, where the divine Shakti is “an almost untranslatable amalgam of wife, mistress, queen, power, genius, strength, authority, mind, vulva, woman and cosmic energy”, and every god needed his Shakti in order to act. Here are multifaceted options for real women!
But in the West they crippled our Crone, leaving only images of ugly witches, evil stepmothers, and harmless little old ladies. A wise and wonderful (and sexual) Crone has been absent from our culture and our conscious awareness for too long. Without her, our life options are distorted – and old age bleak indeed.
The Crone’s liberation is to “exercise her own will”, after centuries, to incorporate all aspects, virgin, mother, crone – and lover.
Reclaiming the Crone means the spiritual and psychological deepening of soul that maturity can bring, including a clearing and healing of one’s sexual wounds. Only this is a proper platform for the redefinition of sexuality required at menopause.

This is a new series (1-24) of Verse No. in the Bible versus the Quran. Verse No. 24 in the Old Testament says: God said, Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind. ” And it was so. Verse No. 24 in the New Testament says When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. Verse No. 24 in the Noble Quran says: their parable is like the parable of one who kindled a fire but when it had illumined all around him, Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness– they do not see.   ———————— The verse No. 24 in the Old Testament is Genesis 1:24 The verse continues talking about the creation of the heavens and the earth; now it is the sixth day of the creation.   The verse says: And God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind. ” And it was so.   So, in the sixth day of the process of the creation of the heavens and the earth, God said: Let the earth produce (bring forth) living creatures after their kind: e. g. cattle and creeping things and beasts, livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind. ” And it was so. ———————— The verse No. 24 in the New Testament is Matthew 1:24 In the articles 18-23, Saint Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant and because he was a righteous man and unwilling to put her to shame, he did not want to expose her to public disgrace. So, he decided to divorce Saint Mary!  But an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.   All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” which means, “God with us. ” Article 23 investigates the prophecy on the basis of : 1) How Does the Bible Use the Word “Virgin”? As a Woman or as a Place? 2) What the “Virgin” deserves according to the Bible? 3) Is the first Matthew’s Prophecy About the Lord Jesus Trustful? Matthew 1:24 says that When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. I wonder why the Bible in the Old Testament denies Saint Mary and in the New Testament persists and is adamant that Saint Mary was an ordinary woman, pledged to be married, her man did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he decided to divorce etc. Nevertheless, the Muslims believe that Saint Mary, peace be upon her; is that She lived and died as a “Pure, Untouched, and an Outstanding Virgin Woman”. although the Bible  insists that she was pledged to be married to Joseph, then she married him and then she had babies from him and then those babies are the brothers of God! ———————— Verse No. 24 in the Noble Quran is 2:17, Chapter 2 is Surah AL-BAQARA (THE COW), Verses 2:8-20 are talking about the hypocrites Verse 2:8 (See article 15) states that the hypocrites say: ‘we believe in Allah and the last day, ‘ yet they are not believers. Verse 2:9 (See article 16) says: They think to beguile Allah and those who believe, and they beguile none save themselves; but they perceive not. Verse 2:10 (See article 17) says: “There is a sickness in their (the hypocrites) hearts which Allah has increased; for them there is a painful punishment because they lie. ” Verse 2:11 (See article 18) says: when it is said to them: Do not corrupt in the land;  they (the hypocrites) say: we are only reformers. Verse 2:12 (See article 19) says: are not they indeed the mischief-makers? but they perceive not. Verse 2:13 says: and when it is said to them: believe as the people believe they say: shall we believe as the fools believe? now surely they themselves are the fools, but they do not know Verse 2:14 says: when they meet those who believe, they say, ‘we, too believe. ‘ but when they are alone with their devils, they say to them: ‘we follow none but you, we were only mocking Verse 2:15 says: Allah shall pay them back their mockery, and he leaves them alone in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on. Verse 2:16 says: these are they who have bartered guidance for error: but their traffic is profitless, and they have lost true direction, Verse 2:17 continues talking about the hypocrites; and says: their parable is like the parable of one who kindled a fire but when it had illumined all around him, Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness– they do not see. The meaning of verse 2:17 The verse gives their (the hypocrites) parable; it means that: The likeness of the hypocrites vis-à-vis Muhammad is as the likeness of one who kindles fire, lights a fire in the darkness in order to provide safety for his family, property and person, and when it sheds its light and he sees what is around him and feels secure, at that very moment the Fire is put out. Likewise, the hypocrites believed openly in Muhammad as well as in the Quran and by doing so they felt their persons, families and properties were safe, avoiding in the process imprisonment or death. But when they die Allah takes away their light, the benefit of their outward faith, and leaves them in darkness facing the hardships of the grave, where they cannot see any comfort. It is also said this simile refers to the Jews. In this respect, the likeness of the Jews vis-à-vis Muhammad is like a man who raises a flag in a lost battle and by doing so attracts other defeated fighters. But when they gather they put their flag down and, consequently, their benefit and safety immediately vanish. Similarly, the Jews used to say that Muhammad and the Quran, prior to its revelation, would support them. When it was revealed however they denied it and Allah took away their light, i. e. their desire to believe and the benefit of such belief. This is because although they wanted to believe in Muhammad they did not do so, and consequently they were left unable to see the guidance. Also, it is said that, their likeness, the way they are in their hypocrisy, is as the likeness of one who kindled, that is, one who lit a fire in darkness, and when it illumined all about him, so that he is able to see, and to feel warm and secure from those he feared, Allah took away their light, extinguishing it and left them in darkness, unable to see, what is around them, confused as to the way, in fear; likewise are those who have found temporary security by professing faith, but who will meet with terror and punishment upon death and in the Hereafter. ========== Verse No. 24 in the Old Testament, the New Testament in four different versions of the Bible; and in the Noble Quran in Four different Translations Verse No. 24 in the Old Testament Genesis 1:24 New International Version: 24] And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind. ” And it was so. New American Standard Version: 24] Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so. English Standard Version: 24] And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds. ” And it was so. King James Version: 24] And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. ———————— Verse No. 24 in the New Testament Matthew 1:24 New International Version: 24] When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. New American Standard Version: 24] And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, English Standard Version: 24] When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, King James Version: 24] Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: ———————— Verse No. 24 in the Noble Quran Chapter 2:17 Surah AL-BAQARA (THE COW) QARIB: their example is like one who kindled a fire, and when it lit all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness. they could not see. SHAKIR: their parable is like the parable of one who kindled a fire but when it had illumined all around him, Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness– they do not see PICKTHAL: their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindleth fire, and when it sheddeth its light around him Allah taketh away their light and leaveth them in darkness, where they cannot see, YUSUFALI: their similitude is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in utter darkness. so they could not see. ========== It is very premature to ask this question: Is the Quran quoted from the Bible? Wait and you will see.

Verse 2:13 says: and when it is said to them: believe as the people believe they say: shall we believe as the fools believe? now surely they themselves are the fools, but they do not knowVerse 2:14 says: when they meet those who believe, they say, ‘we, too believe. ‘ but when they are alone with their devils, they say to them: ‘we follow none but you, we were only mockingVerse 2:15 says: Allah shall pay them back their mockery, and he leaves them alone in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on. Verse 2:16 says: these are they who have bartered guidance for error: but their traffic is profitless, and they have lost true direction,Verse 2:17 continues talking about the hypocrites; and says: their parable is like the parable of one who kindled a fire but when it had illumined all around him, Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness– they do not see. The meaning of verse 2:17The verse gives their (the hypocrites) parable; it means that:The likeness of the hypocrites vis-à-vis Muhammad is as the likeness of one who kindles fire, lights a fire in the darkness in order to provide safety for his family, property and person, and when it sheds its light and he sees what is around him and feels secure, at that very moment the Fire is put out. 24 in the Old TestamentGenesis 1:24New International Version:24] And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind. ” And it was so. “Article 23 investigates the prophecy on the basis of :1) How Does the Bible Use the Word “Virgin”? As a Woman or as a Place?2) What the “Virgin” deserves according to the Bible?3) Is the first Matthew’s Prophecy About the Lord Jesus Trustful? Matthew 1:24 says that When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. Outright Odds: 1500/1
Group B Winners: 50/1
Trinidad & Tobago will be looking to cause a few upsets after qualifying for the World Cup finals for the very first time at the eleventh attempt. The ‘Soca Warriors’ beat Bahrain 2-1 across a two-legged play-off to reach Germany but also beat Mexico, ranked seventh in the world, along the way.
Dennis Lawrence headed in the decisive goal in Bahrain but it was the final North, Central American and Caribbean Zone group match against the 40/1 (Bet365) Mexicans that will be best remembered.
Trinidad & Tobago needed a win in order to beat Guatemala to the precious play-off spot but fell a goal behind and even missed a penalty before a Stern John double turned the match around to ensure a fourth-placed finish in the group.
Bustling striker John will play in attack with veteran striker Dwight Yorke. The former Manchester United and Aston Villa striker is nearing the end of his career and will be 35 in Germany. He came out of international retirement in 2005 to give it one last go, and although he is no longer the same player who helped United to complete their magnificent treble in the 1998/99 season, qualification is the final reward for a long and frustrating career for his country.
Yorke was part of the team that almost qualified for the 1990 finals and needed just a point against the USA to book a place in Italy. However, the United States scored a last-gasp winner to qualify themselves at Trinidad & Tobago’s expense.
Manager Leo Beenhakker, formerly of Holland, Real Madrid and Ajax has worked wonders for this tiny country with a population of just 1. 3 million - the smallest competing nation in the finals. He has managed to get the best out of a limited pool of players, many of which play at a low standard for the clubs.
However, there is a strong “British contingent” that will make watching Trinidad & Tobago interesting for UK audiences. As well as Yorke and John, the starting XI includes Kelvin Jack (Dundee), Brent Sancho (Gilklingham), Marvin Andrews (Rangers), Dennis Lawrence (Wrexham), Chris Birchall (Port Vale), Kenwyne Jones (Southampton) and Carlos Edwards (Luton).
Being thrust onto the world stage is a big ask for some of the players but they need to look at Jamaica in the 1998 World Cup for inspiration. If they can beat either England, Sweden or Paraguay, that would go down as the country’s greatest result in history.
BetBonus. co. uk Recommendation:
Trinidad & Tobago’s best chance of success could come in the final group game. If Paraguay are out of the reckoning, Trinidad & Tobago could battle their way to a draw at tempting odds.
Paraguay vs Trinidad & Tobago draw @ 13/5

24 in the Old TestamentGenesis 1:24New International Version:24] And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind. ” And it was so.
